Top five authors that make me happy

freddie-marriage-92621Being a mom I have found that my reading interests have changed.  I used to read some really intense books sometimes with really dark subject matter.  But I found after I had kids that it was harder for me to go to that place.  I wonder if other moms feel this way?

Not to mention that when I read it’s like I am emotionally in the place of the characters and I just didn’t have the emotional bandwidth to handle that.  Plus I have a lot less time to devote to reading!

So these days I choose things that tend to be lighter and keep me in a happier emotional cocoon.  Here are a few authors that I have loved lately and have kept things light for me and more in the mood to play.  Many of them are young adult, a genre I have come to love.

  • Anything by Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl, Eleanor and Park, Landline are my faves)
  • Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, Isla and the Happily Ever After)
  • Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Truly Madly Guilty, etc.)
  • Jojo Moyes
  • Gayle Forman (Just One Day, Just One Year, etc.)
